This car enthusiast managed to snap up a Dodge Ram for just $500 on Facebook Marketplace, revealing that he likely beat ‘millions’ of others to the bargain vehicle.
Jay Smart, from South Carolina, admitted that he wasn’t initially hopeful that he would get his hands on the car purely due to the low price it was listed for.
Of course, for $500 the Dodge Ram wasn’t exactly in pristine condition.
But as it cost so little, Jay Smart was willing to overlook that and planned to repair and restore the Ram.

The $500 Dodge Ram had a lot of problems waiting to be fixed
When it comes to buying used cars on Facebook Marketplace, there are some real bargains to be had – like this $9,500 Subaru or this Toyota Corolla that was flipped and re-sold with a $3,500 profit.
So, would Jay Smart’s cheap-as-you-like Dodge Ram turn out to be a similar savvy purchase or would he regret parting with $500?

“There are lots of things broken on it,” Smart admitted in a video shared to his YouTube channel.
Not an ideal start, but at least Smart knew what he was getting himself into, right?
The seller warned Smart that to get the Dodge Ram home he’d need to get a trailer, but Smart was ‘determined’ to drive his new truck home and, surprisingly, managed to do it.
However, Smart then pointed out what was broken on the truck and it was quite a list.
For starters, it had a broken taillight, a huge rip across the bench seat, a mis-aligned bumper, and sagging doors.
Oh, and several of the wires under the hood had been chewed through by rodents. Not exactly ideal.
Incredibly, the Ram runs but it still needs a lot of work
But Smart was more than prepared for the task at hand and managed to get the sagging doors fixed in next to no time.
He then turned his attention to the engine and was able to tinker with the V8 engine until almost all of the warning lights on the dashboard went away.
Unfortunately, the more time he spent working on the Ram, the more problems he came across, including a dead radio and a very unstable tailgate.
But Smart knew that the cheap Dodge Ram was going to be a repair and restoration job and vowed to work on it until it was as good as new… or near enough.
