After hearing the hype about the Tesla Model Y, one mom from Aberdeen, Scotland, decided to see for herself what all the fuss was about.

She rented the EV for 24 hours to see whether it was as good as she’d it was rumored to be.

“I was nervous about all the technology and charging,” she admitted.

For better or worse she admits: “It has massively surprised me.”

The Tesla Model Y hype

Content creator and parent, Shelley (@mummyandzozo), wanted to see whether the much-talked-about Tesla Model Y had practical benefits beyond being eco-friendly.

The mum-of-two lives in Aberdeen, Scotland, with her young sons.

She rented the Tesla Model Y as part of the EV brand’s test-driving program and decided to document her experience.

The pros and cons

Spinning a lot of plates meant that she felt that she worried about the small keycard, fearing that she would ‘lose it all the time’.

However, it is possible to back this up via the Tesla app which can be downloaded to a smartphone.

This is then able to unlock the EV wirelessly using Bluetooth technology.

One thing that Shelley did find worked well as a busy mom was the abundant trunk space.

Perfect when you have a stroller, several bags, and a couple of scooters to contend with.

“Look how much space there is. This is good for parents,” she enthused.

However, the ‘true test’ for any parent hoping for a quiet 30 minutes of nap time when they return home from an outing is its ability to lull a toddler to sleep in transit.

To sum up: “It has massively surprised me, and I didn’t expect to like it so much.

“I can now 100% see the appeal and why so many people love it,” she captioned her TikTok.

She added that the amount of money she’d save on gas with a Tesla Model Y was another reason to switch to the EV – however, she admits that, for now, she’s sticking with her Land Rover.

@mummyandzozo After 24 hours this is what I’m thinking. Overall Its massively surprised me and I didnt expect to like it so much. I can now 100% see the appeal and why so many people love it. Thinking how much I would save on petrol definitely made me pause. But I am a huge fan on land Rover and Im not sure I am ready to move away from them. #momcar #thatmom #familycar #carshopping #teslamom #teslamodely #family #mum #momsoftiktok #sahmlife #momvlog ♬ original sound – Shelley | Mummy & Zozo

One driver recently conducted a 31-day experiment to prove that charging a Tesla Cybertruck costs way less than you think.

However, the writing is on the wall for combustion engines as more and more manufacturers hype up all-electric.

It’s an important development in the fight against the rising global temperature, as EVs don’t produce any ailpipe pollution. They also compensate for their energy-intensive battery manufacturing process after six years.

Though Shelley stated that she was unlikely to switch from her Land Rover to a Tesla, others shared their preference for Tesla and voiced their support for EVs.

“We have a discovery and the model y. We take the Tesla over the LR,” one commenter responded. “We love it!”

“I’ve had my Tesla (model 3) for three months, and I love it! I was nervous about all the technology and charging, but it’s just so easy to drive,” another person said.
