Bentley is yet another automaker saying goodbye to gas-only cars, and the new Bentley Continental GT is its latest pick.

That’s right — the new Continental GT will be a plug-in hybrid, but that doesn’t mean it won’t have enough performance.

As a matter of fact, it will have 771 horsepower, making it the most powerful Continental GT yet.

The British luxury automaker teased the upcoming Conti GT with early images and tech specs.

Bentley says that the new car uses the brand’s ‘Ultra Performance Hybrid’ powertrain based around a V8 engine.

The electric motor and the combustion engine produce a combined 771 hp and 737 pound-feet of torque.

That’s a lot of horses, to say the least.

To top that, it’s more powerful than Bentley’s upcoming W12 Mulliner, which can pull off 740 horsepower.

It’s all thanks to the hybrid powertrain.

Since that number seems too good to be true, let’s compare it to the previous Continental GT versions.

And, spoiler alert: it’s better than all of them.

That, too, by a lot.

For instance, the previous generation Conti GT Speed produced 650 horsepower and 665 pound-feet of torque.

It’s a drastic upgrade, to say the least.

The Conti is an extraordinary car, and even Dubai Police likes it so much that it has one in its fleet.

However, the automaker didn’t reveal anything about the exact performance figures and weight of the newest GT.

What we do know is that the luxury car’s included battery will provide 50 miles of electric-only range in Europe’s WLTP tests.

It’s not much, but it’s a great number nonetheless.

Power isn’t all the new Bentley Continental GT is getting, though.

There are also several goodies inside the car, but the exterior looks like a regular facelift from the outside.

It gets a new all-wheel-drive system, with torque vectoring, rear-wheel steering, electronic limited-slip differential, dual-valve dampers, and 48-volt electric anti-roll tech.

That’s a lot of fancy features.

Bentley says that the new Continental GT will not only be the most powerful Conti GT yet but also the ‘most sustainable’ one yet.

We will know more about the latest luxury car in June when the automaker launches it globally.
