A Porsche 911 Dakar owner from Vietnam embarked on a staggering 20,000-mile road trip in just 75 days.
The epic journey saw Nguyen Hoang Anh drive from Vietnam to the Mongolian part of the Gobi Desert and back again.
The incredible feat saw Nguyen tackle all sorts of environments and climates.
And it also turned him into quite the local celebrity.

The Porsche 911 Dakar was involved in an epic journey
While the high-end sports car might not be the first vehicle you think of when it comes to high-mileage motors, there are some owners who are happy to add a few zeros onto their Porsche 911’s odometer – such as Bill MacEachern, who has more than 725,000 miles on his.
Or 54-year-old Nguyen, who took part in a mind-blowing road 33,000 kilometers (20,000 miles) road trip in his in 2023.
Nguyen prepped for his extra-long journey by taking part in a two-day test drive in Vietnam where he covered around 2,000km (1,242 miles), which went well.
So, without making any modifications to his Porsche 911 Dakar he set off, accompanied by a couple of pals who went along in an SUV and a truck.
He first headed out towards the border of Laos and China ‘without any specific routes’ in mind and eventually ended up passing into China ‘without any issues’ and onto the Gobi Desert in Mongolia.
He passed through sand, snow, forests and mountains
During the trip, he traversed sand, snow, lush grasslands, and rugged terrain.
He and the Porsche 911 Dakar dealt with temperature swings of more than 100 degrees Fahrenheit as well as extreme altitudes.
And when he made it all the way to his intended destination, he turned back around to return to his home in Ho Chi Minh City.
Impressive stuff.
Nguyen’s incredible trip caught the attention of the public and he soon found him and his Porsche 911 Dakar popping up all over social media and became a bit of a local star.
“Once home, I’m overjoyed and elated by all the impressions and the 911 Dakar, which loves sand dunes just as much as it does frozen mountain lakes, snowy roads, demanding slopes, and empty highways,” he told Porsche.
“This vehicle has become incredibly close to my heart over those 75 days, and I want to travel the world with it. And I know it will never fail.”
And we can’t wait to see what he’s got planned next.
