In what might just be the barn find of 2025 (big call, we know), one US man has found a 1979 Pontiac Firebird 10th-anniversary edition, which hasn’t run in more than 40 years.

The Pontiac Firebird is quite the classic when it comes to vintage American cars.

But few come as rare as this barn find.

With fewer than 6,000 miles on the clock over the last 46 years, this abandoned beauty is destined for a new chance at life.

1979 Pontiac Firebird 10th-anniversary edition found abandoned in barn

Pontiac Firebird finds are rare enough as it is, with very few of these beloved cars being left to the wilderness.

Of course, some are, such as this one with a very famous owner.

But for the most part, Firebird finds are scarce.

Never mind 10th-anniversary editions.

But one man has managed to uncover a piece of history as this car has sat untouched for 40 years.

For sale on eBay, user ‘dem918242’ revealed they found the Trans Am in Texas, with only one listed owner.

The Firebird isn’t in its glory days as it was back in the 70s, with some rust extinguishing its usual bright silver flames.

The ‘used’ condition is apt, with the seller claiming that there are a few holes in the interior floor that need repairing, the interior seats need restoring or replacing, as does the trunk pan, and a paint job is quite apparent.

Still, its core is strong.

The seller added that, ‘Quarters, rockers, cowl and drip rails are soild,’ the ‘shaker is complete and not cut out,’ and it comes with the original eight-track radio.

These cars come with an automatic Oldsmobile 403 engine, which appears to be in good condition overall, given its limited miles.

The 1979 Pontiac Firebird 10th-anniversary edition has been rolled out of the barn and straight onto eBay though, where bids are already exceeding $3,500.

Previous restorations of long-lost Pontiac Firebird’s have gone well, with one owner getting a rather ragged find back up and running after 21 years.
