Story of Rolls-Royce Phantom outside Indian hotel revealed

A Rolls-Royce Phantom left abandoned outside a hotel has been a mystery for months – but its backstory has now been revealed.

The image made its way onto Car Crazy India’s Facebook page, leading to a ton of questions about its origin.

With some dust accumulating on the car’s hood, it’s clear that it’d been there for some time.

After much speculation, an explanation for the car has been provided.

The Rolls-Royce Phantom with a colorful backstory

This car belonged to Gautam Kundu, the owner of the Rose Valley conglomerate.

It’s believed to be one of his pricier items, having been purchased by him in 2012.

Whilst online postings have been explicit about the car’s exact location, it’s been claimed that the hotel it’s parked outside of belonged to the Rose Valley group.

From the outside, it doesn’t appear that the car has been damaged beside the suspension looking a little low.

The Rose Valley Group were caught up in controversy back in 2015 when they stood accused of scamming investors.

Kundu, the Phantom’s owner, was arrested and has been held in custody ever since.

That could go some way to explaining why his car is gathering dust.

A sophisticated and classy car

The Phantom is the embodiment of style and regality, thanks in part to its association with wealth in its native Britain.

It’s no wonder that Rowan Atkinson wanted an one-off to be made for his role in Johnny English.

A British spy deserves a British car after all.

It’s a shame for such a majestic and striking car to be left like a museum piece.

Hopefully it can find a new home – but given that the car is likely still the property of Kundu, it’s not clear when a sale would ever occur.
