Bigger is better, that’s according to Crown Prince of Saudi Arabia Mohammed bin Salman Al Saud (MBS) as he plans to build the world’s tallest skyscraper in Riyadh.

Planned to stretch 2 kilometers in the sky – its scale is simply mind boggling.

To try and put it into context, that’s taller than two of the 828 m (2,717 ft) Burj Khalifa in Dubai stacked one on top of the other.

As if Neom weren’t enough of an undertaking, as the project steadily progresses and construction ramps up before our eyes.

In fact, ETAs on completion are already emerging.

Now the dynamic Saudi Crown Prince wants the title of world’s tallest skyscraper under his belt.

The Crown Prince’s vision is proof the sky’s no limit.

UK studio, Foster + Partners, are currently working on The Line in Neom City, a 170 km horizontal marvel of a skyscraper planned to rise to 500 meters.

The design house will then reportedly be designing the skyscraper in Riyadh, near the King Khalid International Airport, which Foster + Partners is also currently busy expanding.

It would be the world’s tallest building, a two-kilometer-high skyscraper (1.24 miles), if it’s completed.

The multi-billion gigaproject would be backed by Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund (PIF).

And it’s yet another way to put Saudi Arabia firmly on the map.

The structure would cost more than $4 billion and become the towering glory of the Kingdom.

It would dwarf the current tallest in the Kingdom, the Abraj Al Bait Royal Clock Tower in Mecca, which stands at 600 m (1,969 ft).

With sky-high living in mind, these are the top 10 penthouses – when it comes to real estate the sky’s the limit.

The fascination with the title of world’s tallest skyscraper is nothing new for Saudi Arabia.

Back in 2015, the Kingdom secured funds to build Jeddah Tower.

At 1,000 m (3,281 ft), it was to be only 172 m (564 ft) taller than the Burj Khalifa – but plans were unfortunately delayed.

Now MBS is set to construct a tower that’s double the height of Dubai’s icon, as the ambitious Jeddah Tower project also moves ahead after commencing construction again in 2023.

One thing is certain: whichever tower is completed first, it will take the title of world’s tallest skyscraper/tower.
