This stolen Steve McQueen tribute Jaguar has been recovered by Texas police, two months after it was stolen from a locked garage.
The Jaguar XKSS replica sadly went missing on December 2nd 2024, after being swiped in the Westlake area.
Team CJ, who created the stunning car, put out a call for information.
Nearly two months later, and the car has finally been found – in a storage locker.

How this Steve McQueen replica was found
As time went by, it seemed less likely that the car would ever be found.
But as reported by RoadandTrack, the West Lake Hills police kept up the pursuit and followed a bunch of leads.
With enough information under their belt, they obtained a search warrant for a storage facility in Austin.
Inside the unit, the police discovered the stolen Jaguar alongside other stolen items.
The car’s owner, Matthew Briggs, was appreciative that the police’s efforts had produced results.
“I am incredibly grateful to all the officers and detectives that worked on my case,” he said.
“Their attention and dedication to finding my car was impressive and truly appreciated.”
Police Chief Scott Gerdes echoed these sentiments.
“This investigation required the dedication of our patrol officers, detectives, lieutenant, and administrative staff, all of whom worked diligently to piece together the information that led to the search warrant,” he said.
It’s not yet apparent whether arrests have been made, but the investigation is still ongoing.
There’s nothing quite like a stolen car being returned to its rightful owner – and some don’t take that long to be recovered.
This Californian got his 1957 Chevrolet Bel Air back the day it was stolen.
But some robberies take longer to resolve, as was the case with these 35 high-end cars taken from the UK and found in Thailand years later.
The backstory behind this remarkable Jaguar
Everything about the XKSS screams class, sophistication and old school cool.
First produced in 1957 and assembled in Coventry, England, this ride was as rare as it was beautiful, with only 16 being built and sold at the time.
The American actor Steve McQueen owned a XKSS and painted it British racing green.
McQueen, best known for his roles in movies like The Magnificent Seven and The Great Escape, referred to his car as ‘the green rat’.
Thirty years after his passing in 1980, the car would tour the US as part of the ‘Allure of the Automobile’ exhibit.
The car currently sits on display in Los Angeles at the Petersen Automotive Museum.
This isn’t the only iconic car of the actor’s to have gained attention decades after his passing.
And of course, there was his Ferrari 275 GTB/4, which went up for auction in 2023.
You know you’re cool if your name can boost a car’s reputation forty years after you’re gone.
