The highly anticipated sequel to the 1986 original sees Tom Cruise return to the role of Lt. Pete Maverick.
The synopsis for the film reads: Pete “Maverick” Mitchell keeps pushing the envelope after years of service as one of the Navy’s top aviators. He must soon confront the past while training a new squad of graduates for a dangerous mission that demands the ultimate sacrifice.

As you can see, director Joseph Kosinki has opted for the bigger and bolder approach for this sequel. With heart in your mouth action sequences, nostalgic pulls on your heartstrings and enough drama to throw a stick at, it looks like we’re in for quite a ride.
Fans of the original will love the references to the iconic characters of Ice Man and Goose, and how their legacy fits in with the new story.
And it’s clearly not been all smooth-sailing for our hero Maverick since the events of the first film.
The movie has a stellar cast. It features Val Kilmer, Milles Teller, Jennifer Connelly, Ed Harris, John Hamm, Charles Parnell and Monica Barbaro.
Understandably, fans and cast alike are all rejoicing at both the news and the trailer.
The film was originally delayed due to the COVID-19 Pandemic.
Now though, the wait is almost over. It looks set to be a film for everyone too. Fans of the original will be eager to re-enter this world.
While new fans might just be there because it looks like the must see summer blockbuster. Everyone else will be there to see Tom Cruise.
Top Gun: Maverick comes out May 27, 2022.
