This couple’s romantic road trip ended with them calling a vehicle recovery team.

What started as a crisp morning turned into a muddy afternoon.

Their Honda Accord was no match for the mountain’s mud.

In fact, the recovery team was left wondering why the pair tried to tackle this terrain in the first place.

Honda Accord vs the mud

The vehicle recovery team from Matt’s Off Road Recovery received a call-out on a chilly day.

A couple had attempted to traverse the muddy mountains, gotten seriously stuck, and had to walk back to dry land.

As Utah residents, they should’ve known better.

The area is infamous for cars getting stuck in the mud, like this Chevy left overnight in the Meadow Hot Springs mud.

And even recovery vehicles themselves have been known to get stuck while attempting rescue missions.

The couple gave Matt and his assistant Rhett the keys to their Honda Accord and a pin of its location.

A Cybertruck would’ve been right at home in the mud, but the Accord couldn’t handle it.

Tracking it down was a struggle of its own, but eventually Matt’s wrecker came across the abandoned white sedan.

Unfortunately, the couple had left the emergency flashers on, and the battery was completely drained.

There wasn’t even enough power to unlock the car.

What should have been a simple jump-starting situation was stopped dead as Matt and Rhett realized they’d left their jumper cables behind.

A successful vehicle recovery, eventually

After nearly giving up hope, Matt remembered he had welding cables.

While not ideal, they can be used to jump-start a car in an emergency.

The car sprang to life; however its tires merely spun fruitlessly in the mud tracks.

Matt attached a rope to the front wheel, connecting it to his wrecker to pull the car out of the deep grooves in the mud.

Rhett carefully drove the car along the dry sections of the dirt road to safety, where the couple stood relieved.

They shared that they noticed the road getting muddier and muddier but figured turning around would be worse than pushing through.

Pushing through the mud, that is.

Needless to say, they’ll think twice before taking a sedan off-road again.
