Cop Turns Abandoned Plane Into Street-legal Car
Ridiculous Rides

This woman found an abandoned American Airlines in an old Puerto Rico military base.

Laura, host of YouTube channel LauWasHere, took her subscribers along to see the remarkable site at Roosevelt Roads Airport.

She’s no stranger to abandoned sites on the Caribbean island, which she frequently films herself exploring.

But even by her adventurous standards, this was quite remarkable.

The abandoned plane in a Puerto Rico base

Laura had been tipped off about the plane, and having never seen a deserted on before, she leapt at the opportunity to explore it.

Upon arriving at the airfield, it was clear that segments of it had fallen into disuse as it’d become over-run with vegetation.

It wasn’t in such a bad state compared to other abandoned planes however, like this bi-plane found in an American field.

Laura was left in wonder as she drew closer to the abandoned plane, which appeared to be from the 1980s.

“I’ve never been this close to a plane before,” she remarked.

“Come to think of it, I’ve never boarded a plane from the outside before.”

The plane’s colors were a little faded and there were a few parts missing, but it was otherwise holding up remarkably well.

Getting inside the plane proved to be a little tricky, after an inspection of the cargo hold found there was no way in from there.

The door to the plane was wide open, but out of reach.

Fortunately, it looked like a previous explorer had left out a stool of sorts to give people easy access to the jet.

We say ‘easy access’ loosely, as this still looked like an accident waiting to happen.

Eventually, Laura pulled herself up into the plane and continued on her way.

And this is where things really got interesting.

Taking a trip back in time on an American Airlines

Upon first laying eyes on the interior, Laura yelled: “Oh my god! This is such a cool site! What the f**k?!”

So you could say she was excited.

The cockpit appeared to have been largely gutted, in addition to having no seats for the pilot and co-pilot.

But all the controls seemed to be there, though we have our doubts this plane is in any position to fly.

Around the cabin, there were plenty of indicators that this plane hadn’t seen action for quite a few decades.

The lack of screens being a prominent piece of evidence – none behind the seats and none at the front to control the lights onboard.

As far as time capsules go however, it couldn’t quite compete against this video filmed in 2003 which showed what it was like to fly on the Concorde.

It’s not clear how the American Airlines plane ended up at Roosevelt Roads, which was originally built as a naval base shortly after the Second World War.

But what is certain is that somebody came before Laura, as much of the plane had been ransacked.

Oxygen masks and magazines were strewn around the place, and many seats were in a state of disarray.

Still, it was a nice treat to see the inside of a deserted plane for once, as they are usually inaccessible to the general public – as was the case with this Boeing 727 which sat in El Paso airport for years.
