Hollywood helped popularise Ford’s historic Le Mans victory with the 2019 film ‘Ford v Ferrari’ (starring Christian Bale and Matt Damon), and since then, the automaker has been trying to keep the legend alive harder than ever before.

The Heritage Edition Holman Moody is the latest example: a limited-edition Ford GT with a custom made livery and a heavyweight nameplate.

The gold and red colour scheme is a tribute to Holman Moody, a name that probably doesn’t mean much to most people but it should.

It was a race car constructor, and more to the point it was Ford’s main racing partner for years, including in 1966, when Ford scored a 1-2-3 podium finish at Le Mans, helping cement the brand’s reputation in the most popular and well-known endurance racing series in the world.

Holman-Moody (along with Shelby) also helped Ford develop the 427-cubic-inch-engine-powered version of the GT40, turning the car into a serial winner as well as a timeless icon.

The Holman-Moody is scheduled to be unveiled in the Spring, and it will join a long list of Heritage Edition models, including the ‘66, the ‘67 and a Gulf-liveried limited-edition dedicated to Ken Miles, portrayed by Christian Bale in the Hollywood blockbuster.

Production will be limited to 1,350 units.
