The Oldsmobile Cutlass is, without doubt, one of the coolest cars ever made.
Produced between 1961 and 1999 by Oldsmobile – a sub-division of General Motors – the Cutlass underwent several different evolutions and styles.
However, when Oldsmobile began producing the third-generation Cutlass in 1968 (ended in 1972) the car started to develop its legendary, muscle-car style.
Now, one of the legendary cars has been found in a junkyard – with an intriguing message left on the dash.
Abandoned Oldsmobile Cutlass left in junkyard
A YouTuber named Benny from Classic Ride Society released a very interesting video on social media.
In the video, Benny visits his local junkyard.
Lo and behold, he happens to stumble across a third-generation, 1972 Oldsmobile Cutlass.
As is clear from the video, the Oldsmobile looks very…old. It is definitely looking a lot worse for wear.
Sadly, the car has been badly neglected by its previous owners. Rot has eaten away the hood and most of the body. One comment on YouTube joked that “if glass could rot, it probably would too”.
Not wrong at all.
Interestingly, someone left a mysterious, cryptic message on the dash (scrawled in dust).
It says (we think): “Love you, Mr Pookie.”
To be honest, we have no idea who this ‘Mr Pookie’ is; we can only assume that he once owned this legendary car.
Unfortunately, someone after him allowed this car to fall into a state of terrible disrepair.
Regardless of who allowed this car to end up in its current state, we can only hope that this video raises awareness of the car. Perhaps it might even be somebody’s next restoration passion project.
Of all the cars that are deserving of restoration, a third-generation Oldsmobile Cutlass has to be pretty high on top of that list. In fact, several comments on Benny’s video have called for the YouTuber to take it on as a restoration project.
