The 2026 Bugatti Tourbillon naturally aspirated V16 engine sounds absolutely unreal during testing.

Bugatti announced the Tourbillion – its first new car in 16 years – back in June.

The Tourbillion, which will replace the Chiron, was unveiled exactly 20 years after the Veyron was launched.

It comes with a beefy V16 engine that Bugatti CEO, Mate Rimac, says will ‘be around for a while’.

The 2026 Bugatti Tourbillon has a seriously impressive engine

Prior to the unveiling of the Tourbillion – and following Rimac’s acquisition of Bugatti – many car enthusiasts assumed it would be the end of gas-powered hypercars from the brand.

However, founder Mate Rimac was quick to confirm that was not the plan and unveiled a new V16 that was set to power the Tourbillion.

And what an engine it is – the 8.3-liter V16 is almost one meter in length but weighs just 252kg (555lbs) thanks to the lightweight composite materials it’s made of.

The V16 produces 986 horsepower, but the overall output is boosted to 1,775hp thanks to the addition of three Rimac electric motors.

According to Rimac, the new Tourbillon has a top speed of 444 km/h (276mph) but he believes later versions will be able to top 490 km/h (300mph).

The V16 has been heard for the first time

In recent days, a clip of a camouflaged Tourbillon spinning around the track at the Rimac testing facility in Croatia has been shared online, giving us a chance to hear that powerful engine – and it’s nothing short of thunderous.

Even at fairly low RPMs the engine sounds excellent and we can only imagine how much better it will sound when going at full tilt.

At this stage, it’s unclear if this is how the finished Tourbillon will sound as the car in the clip is a prototype.

However, for most folks, the chance of getting to hear the 2026 Bugatti Tourbillon in real life will be a dream unrealized.

Bugatti has confirmed that it will be producing just 250 units and that they come with a hefty $4 million price tag.

Still, we can dream, can’t we?
