Barn find of the century happens when man finds 1966 Impala SS in great condition

We all love seeing a decent barn find, but you know it’s a great one when the car is in excellent condition, just like this 1966 Impala SS.

Someone in Southern Indiana recently discovered this gem of a muscle car, and it will be ready to roll again after some maintenance.

Surprisingly, it’s an untouched car, and an all-original one, on top of that.

Just so you know, that means the Impala still has all the stock items, and the owner never replaced anything.

Since it’s untouched, the owner probably only had it sent to a Chevrolet service center for routine maintenance.

Discovered by autoevolution, the eBay seller who discovered the car mentions that it doesn’t run.

And, the car has been sitting in the garage since 1975,

While that may seem concerning, a regular restoration job should fix that.

Since the car was in a garage for almost five decades, it obviously wouldn’t run.

It’s safe to say that it’s in a much better condition than this Corvette abandoned in a barn for 42 years.

And that immensely long time period also explains the minor surface damages.

That’s right — there’s some rusting on the exterior and some damage to the floor area.

However, it’s nothing that an expert mechanic cannot fix.

Apart from that, as the listing owner mentioned, the interior seems to be in mint condition.

All things considered, this 1966 Impala SS is truly a one-of-a-kind car and a great barn find.

It’s a classic muscle car, from its appearance to its performance.

Sure, modern-day cars are better at accelerating, handling, and braking.

But newer muscle cars don’t have the same ‘oomph’ that classic cars like this Impala do.

That’s because cars like these are bold — unlike what we have now, which some people even use as their daily drivers.

This ‘SS’ in this 1866 Impala SS stands for Super Sport — making it even rarer.

It’s the fourth-generation Impala that Chevrolet released in 1965, and it was among the automaker’s most-selling cars ever in the US.

However, the fourth-gen Impala’s tenure ended with the final cars leaving showrooms in 1970.

Overall, this is a remarkable barn find.

While it needs considerable work, it’s a good package with all-original goodies and a 1966 license plate.

It might need a few new documents though – it has been locked away for decades.
