Daniel Radcliffe bought a car worth $5k despite having millions in the bank

When Daniel Radcliffe turned 18, he found himself in a predicament the vast majority of teenagers could only dream of.

The Harry Potter star gained access to his $27 million fortune on his 18th birthday.

But much to the disappointment gossip columnists around the world, the young actor didn’t fritter his cash away on fast cars, drink and celebrity parties.

The first thing Daniel Radcliffe wanted to buy himself for his 18th birthday was a car.

And – like any sensible young adult – he did his research.

Despite being the richest kid in Britain at the time, he could conjure himself a Rolls-Royce or a flash Lamborghini.

Instead, the actor chose to purchase a rather non-celeb car: a Fiat Grande Punto.

Concerned about the environment, he opted for a Punto as it was voted one of the top five green cars in Britain at the time.

Fiat hotshots tried to persuade Radcliffe to go for a sporty look and get the Need For Speed kit, which included a rear spoiler, 17-inch alloys wheels, a leather steering wheel and chrome exhaust.

But Radcliffe wanted to keep his motor quite low-key, so he could nip around London without being recognized.

These days, Daniel Radcliffe’s net worth hovers around $110 million.

The actor’s fortune has allowed him to expand his car collection, which now includes at least one supercar.

The model in question is a Lamborghini Huracán, which starts around $215,000.

Harnessing over 600 horsepower from its 5.2-liter V10 engine, this beast packs some serious power.

The supercar can accelerate from 0-100 km/h (0-62 mph) in 3.3 seconds and go on to a top speed of 325 km/h (202 mph).

A far cry from the humble Fiat Punto.
