This man did what most of us could only imagine doing — he journeyed across the United States with a free trailer with mighty hopes of building a full-fledged camper on it — all without spending a penny.
That’s right – and there are a lot of risky things involved – but it’s safe to say that the attempt wasn’t in vain.
An adventure like this requires more than a small bit of patience, but he didn’t falter.
It all began with an idea after he got a free trailer from his friend and set out with only a handful of tools and a dream.

Man tried to build camper on free trailer by spending $0
The host from the YouTube channel I Can Do That posted a video about this build, and it’s easily one of the coolest DIY projects we’ve seen.
Building upon his idea, the plan was to attach the trailer — which had a boat on top of it — and drive off.
So, that’s precisely what he did, and he started driving.
The YouTuber got a basic set of tools from his dad’s workshop, which was enough for a small construction project like this.
He visited his friends and family in order to find materials like wood planks and frames for free.
After all, the ultimate goal was to build a camper on top of the free trailer without spending money.
The boat sitting atop the trailer helped, too — because he used it as a pickup truck’s bed to carry around materials and eventually help with the walls of what would be like a tiny shack.
Interestingly, he managed to build the outer frame of the camper — including the walls — in less than five stops.
Little did he know that most people had spare materials they weren’t using.
A rollercoaster of a journey
After another break or two, the actual problem began — his vehicle broke down.
In desperation, he bought a pickup truck from a tow truck driver.
That turned out to be the most regrettable decision in his entire trip.
The truck kept breaking down, with one issue after another.
Despite having to wait for hours, if not days, he kept going and eventually built most of the camper on his free trailer.
The exterior looked complete, and it was now time for its finishing touches and things like waterproofing and insulation.
It took him a few more stops, but the camper turned out to be incredible, and it was now a portable home sitting on his free trailer.
In the end, he showed it off to his friends while visiting them, and the reactions were impressive.
The car troubles certainly seemed more complicated than the ambitious project itself, but nothing came issue-free.
