Hyundai has teased an all-new concept car called the Insteroid that looks like it belongs in a video game instead of on our roads.

The company has released teaser images of the car, which will be fully revealed at the Seoul Mobility Show in April.

Hyundai says the car is a rally-raid-inspired version of the Inster EV, with extra aggressive bodywork.

The images hide many of the car’s details but also reveal a few interesting features that make us more excited to see the full car.

The new concept is an aggressive version of the Inster

The Inster is Hyundai’s new compact EV, with a strong design following the success of the Ioniq 5 and Ioniq 6.

The new concept is a much more aggressive version of that car.

New radical bodywork gives it a retro-rally appearance.

Hyundai has cleverly masked some of the car’s details.

This includes the main bodywork panels and close-ups of the front end.

What we do have, however, is very dramatic to look at.

Widened wheel arches are visible amidst the silhouetted shape, particularly at the rear of the Insteroid.

A glimpse into the interior shows the concept has a roll cage, an indicator of its rallying potential.

Aggressive bodywork enhances the Hyundai Inster’s appearance

What we can see are hints of just how aggressive this new car will look.

The back features a massive rear wing, similar to what you might find on Group B rally cars.

The back also looks bulked out, and the Insteroid has a design similar to the mighty MG Metro 6R4 rally car.

We can just about make out a new front spoiler, too, with an aggressive splitter design for more downforce.

The car also has graphics on the car that took inspiration from the Pac-Man Ghost.

These are visible on the rear wing, on the window glass black-outs, and across parts of the cabin.

The trademark pixel lighting elements from the Ioniq range are also visible on the rear of the Insteroid.

Hyundai’s new concept could be previewing a ‘hot hatch’ version of the compact EV.

It’s already revealed that the Ioniq 5 N and an Ioniq 6 N are incoming.

So Hyundai’s sporty EV range looks set to grow even more.
