People can’t believe what the Las Vegas Sphere looks like up close

Video footage of the incredible Las Vegas Sphere has been going viral since the day it first lit up the strip.  

In fact, you’d be hard-pressed to find someone who hasn’t seen a picture of the Sphere’s bizarre, yet wildly detailed eyeball or jack-o-lantern.  

But now we’ve just been given a look at the Sphere from an entirely new perspective, and it’s throwing people off.

From afar, the Las Vegas Sphere beams out incredibly accurate and detailed imagery.

So, it’s hard to imagine just how different it looks up close.

TikTok user @casinocompwallet just posted a video to his 270,000 followers showing what the Sphere looks like when standing next to it and it’s got people doing a double take.

In his video, he zooms in on each LED light, showing just how far apart they are from each other.

“Look at these little panels, this is what you’re looking at when you look at the Sphere,” he said.

“You’re looking at millions of these… I had no idea.

“Tell me that’s not cool.”

One person compared the LED lights to “hockey pucks” and it’s hard to disagree.

To build the gargantuan venue, which measures 336 feet tall and 516 feet wide, they used 1.2 million of these “hockey pucks”.

And while each individual LED light might not look like much, they form to create one of the most mesmerizing digital displays in the world.

Since it was first posted, @casinocompwallet’s video has been watched by more than four million people, garnering thousands of comments.

And unsurprisingly, the construction left some a bit shocked.

“I’m surprised the pixel circles aren’t closer to one another,” one said.  

“Crazy how from a distance it’s such high definition,” another said.

Meanwhile, some just saw dollar signs.

“The low-voltage guy made a killing on that job,” they said.

And considering the Las Vegas Sphere cost a whopping $2.3 billion to build, we’re sure the low-voltage guy got a good chunk of that.
