Man miraculously creates and flies homemade electric airplane

A modern airplane designer and innovator created a homemade electric airplane from his own design during the pandemic, and it’s incredible, to say the least.

If you don’t know about Peter Sripol, he often tried his hand around different kinds of vehicles, and prominently airplanes.

For context, he has built several large ‘homemade versions’ of different types of aircraft, all in his garage.

Not his first homemade electric airplane

Stripol even has an F-18 fighter jet made entirely out of foam, paper, and, of course, a real jet turbine.

Now you hopefully get the idea, and the star of today’s show — the homemade electric plane — is brilliant.

He uploaded a video of him flying the plane on his YouTube channel, which currently has 2.32 million subscribers.

Moreover, the electric airplane is actually a modified — or revisited, as he likes to call it — version of an old project.

It certainly might not be as viable as the first all-electric aircraft, the Alice.

It might not even be as fast as the Rolls-Royce Spirit of Innovation, but at the end of the day, it’s a respectable project.

The old plane was called the MK4 Ultralight, and it apparently had some flaws that needed fixing.

Upgrading the old electric plane to make it better

The newer and upgraded variant features new propellers, a new battery pack, and some other under-the-hood changes.

He added new pitch-adjustable propellers by replacing the old fixed-pitch set.

This allows the plane to have as much thrust as it wants at different points in time, depending on how much the plane requires.

In simpler terms, that basically is the same as having different gears on a geared bicycle instead of having a regular bike where you have to push really hard to start cycling.

It’s an unusual analogy, but it makes you get the point.

This homemade airplane isn’t the first time we have seen a DIY aircraft, just like this miniature air-powered plane.

But it’s safe to say that Sripol’s project is on an entirely different level because a single person can actually fly in it.
