Man inspecting old Bulldozer that broke down in forest 15 years ago finds something bad happens when engine starts

This man went on an adventure inside a forest on the hills to see if he could retrieve a powerful TD9 Bulldozer that had been sitting there for 15 years.

Do not take the ‘adventure’ part lightly in this case because this was wildly different than your average barn finds in the woods.

Large machines like bulldozers are usually only abandoned when they are beyond repair or too expensive to keep running.

This man thought he could at least salvage something, but he was in for a surprise.

Man attempts to start TD9 bulldozer abandoned 15 years ago

YouTuber Marty T is a professional, and he got to know about an abandoned diesel-powered TD9 Bulldozer sitting atop a hill for 15 years.

After having a chat with its previous owner, he decided to go pay the machine a visit and documented his journey in a video.

Although it might not be as exciting as finding a rare car in the woods, it had its rewards.

Upon initial inspection, he found that 15 years hadn’t been that unkind to this workhorse, and apart from some exterior wear and tear, there wasn’t much wrong with it.

Regardless, 15 years can be unforgiving, too — you can clearly see what that time did to this Ford GT.

The clutches and throttle levers moved smoothly, and the oil was in half-decent condition — but the radiator was as dry as it got.

Apart from the radiator and misaligned tracks on one side, this bulldozer seemed like it could run again.

Marty decided to go back and return two days later with a whole bunch of tools, a battery, and fuel so he could attempt to crank it.

Mind you — the TD9 Bulldozer was only reachable after a two-kilometer (1.2 miles) trek.

Making the trip multiple times, especially with heavy luggage, was a task in itself.

Marty, however, never faltered and was back to fix the bulldozer in no time.

Nothing a routine maintenance couldn’t fix

The machine’s fuel pump and filters went through a quick maintenance session, and he further poured in fresh fuel, attached the battery, and cranked the engine.

To his surprise, the bulldozer’s engine started as if it was just fine after a few failed attempts.

It was certainly a moment of joy for him, but some obstacles left him wondering.

First, he had to repair the tracks so the machine could move on its own again.

Unlike these makeshift tracks on a Mini Jeep, these were the real deal.

More importantly, the fuel pump was leaking diesel and likely had to be resealed.

The leak was only under heavy load, so Marty figured that it wouldn’t be a problem to get that thing out of the woods.

All in all, this was an adventurous save, and that bulldozer — which Marty calls a workhorse and not a pony — can be used once more.

It might not be as attractive as watching an abandoned tank come back to life, but if anything, it was worthwhile.
