A man decided to convert a McLaren 650S into a 6765LT using only parts that he could get from China.

He took on the challenge of converting the vehicle because of the price of official McLaren parts.

Because of that constraint, he decided to turn – as so many people have – to Temu.

But did the replacement parts live up to expectations? We’ll find out.

All the idea… just no expensive gear.

The 650S is inspired by Formula One and even has a ‘race crafted’ steering wheel – boasting all the fancy feels.

As for the 675LT, it’s even been hailed as ‘the best McLaren road car since the F1′.

So, it’s no wonder they wanted to make a nod to that particular swish speeder.

The initial idea was to source the parts from McLaren, but had no idea of what price to expect.

After going to his local McLaren dealership and emailing further, they encountered a nasty surprise.

The parts required would set them back over $170,000.

Yikes.

After racking their brains, they decided to use budget parts.

Temu was their go-to option.

Temu to their rescue

After searching for their parts on the platform, they managed to get them ordered and delivered.

They found a full carbon fiber conversion kit for the 650S to a 675LT.

The price also promised to make their bank accounts a lot happier, coming in at just over $39,000.

A win-win situation, you might think.

They also found some rear end brackets on eBay for cheap too.

This McLaren conversion wasn’t as easy as they thought

Installing the parts wasn’t the easiest task in the world.

But, they persevered and started to modify the car with his Temu parts.

They got to work adjusting panels and nutting and bolting parts in place.

To add the cherry on top, they chose a different color too, to really make it their own.

Some parts weren’t easy though, with the creator confessing he had to ‘hope for the best’ and ‘play around’.

The chosen finish featured a hint of a bright orange they got custom mixed – ready for pros to sort.

And it really does strike they eye, when shown against the sanded-down modified vehicle.

So, it’s great if you want to achieve the look of a stop light – for an extortionate price.

Maybe Temu is the way forward when it comes to fancy car parts?

Or, perhaps if you want the McLaren, you just have to pay McLaren prices.
