1995 Porsche 911 comes with an incredible story after being revived following four years spent in a river and 2,400 pounds of mud

A Porsche 911 with an incredible story behind its original death has been completely restored despite four years spent in a river.

This 1993 Carrera was fished out of an Italian river covered in 2,400 pounds of mud.

But its new owner wanted it back on the road.

After a six-year-long graft, this wonderful restoration project has come to a heartwarming end.

Porsche 911 pulled from river after four years underwater

Vehicles really shouldn’t be underwater, they don’t swim. But apparently, they can be revived after drowning, just as was seen when a WWII plane was yoinked from Lake Michigan and underwent ten years of CPR.

This time it’s a Porsche 911 993 Carrera which pursued a failed career as a submarine and was jacked out of a river four years later.

Documented on YouTube via Car Restoration, this once-yellow Carrera was pulled out of a river containing 2,400lbs of mud, debris, and many-legged inhabitants in it.

The car was reportedly the victim of a flood, and while the driver was able to free himself to safety, the car was written off and paid out by the insurance, its wrecked body was soon auctioned off to a restorer.

There, they went to town to give it a new lease of life.

The mud nearly doubled its weight, being an inch thick in some places, which contained sea shells and shrimp within the footwells.

The bodywork was also almost completely broken as the roof, front fenders, rear quarter panels, and hood were all deformed, while the wheels had snapped off and the interior was disintegrated.

Drowned Porsche restored after monumental graft

Once the restoration project was underway, the man couldn’t stop, no matter how much more mud he found cementing everything together.

He soon managed to pry every last piece free and completely disassembled the engine before putting back together anything that looked to be in working condition.

The engine was quickly put back together and up and running, although a lot of work had to be put into the suspension and gearbox which had both failed.

With a lot of bodywork too, the Porsche was restored after some six years of graft and now feels ‘as comfortable and as gummy as a Mercedes-Benz,’ according to the owner.

It’s custom yellow paint might not hold a candle to the multicolored Porsche 911, but it is quite a beauty to behold given its previous state.
