This Porsche Cayman GT4 owner got a completely custom one-off wrap for his supercar to give homage to the Volkswagen Golf Harlequin.
Michael Darling picked up his Cayman GT4 back in early 2023.
The very same year he spotted a Golf Harlequin at a cars and coffee event and was instantly taken back to his childhood.
The car reminded him of Legos, Mario Kart, Tonka trucks, MS Paint, and N64 – so he decided to do something special.

Porsche Cayman GT4 turned into a Golf Harlequin
The Volkswagen Golf Harlequin was a multi-colored minivan that didn’t have much success in the American market.
This surprised the folks over at Volkswagen since a similar multi-colored Polo was very popular in Europe.
However, the car reminded Darling of his childhood.
“I wanted to make something fun and unique that sparks the exciting feeling in the stomach of every Eighties and Nineties kid. A carefree time when color was everywhere,” said Darling.
“At the same time, I wanted to honor the original Harlequin idea and recognize Porsche’s role in its development,” he added.
So he decided to get a custom wrap on his Porsche Cayman GT4 to pay homage to the original Volkswagen Golf Harlequin.
A very special Porsche
Porsche owners are often known for obsessing over how unique their cars are.
So it’s nice to see someone taking their Porsche and honoring another automobile.
Darling, who is on Instagram under the handle @harlecayman was inspired by a render by Glen Cordle.
Cordle had done a similar harlequin render on a 911 GT3 RS.
However, Darling likes the way his custom Porsche Cayman GT4 wrap turned out more.
Interestingly, he is also not the only one who paid homage to the Golf Harlequin through a Porsche.
Someone also did the same to a Porsche 918 Spyder for a VW event in Germany.
