Volvos are famous for being as reliable as a family labrador, but this man has proved just how long a single car can last.

Jim O’Shea from St. Louis County, Missouri made a bet with his late father that he could drive his brand-new (at the time) Volvo 740 GLE more than a million miles.

He made this deal after a small family feud occurred when he bought something that wasn’t a Ford – the family’s favourite brand.

However, Jim proved all his family wrong when he surpassed the million-mile mark in his 1991 Volvo, Fox News reports.

As a reward, Volvo Cars USA has given Jim a brand-new 2022 S60 sedan for the next two years as part of its ‘care by Volvo, all-inclusive car subscription.’

This means all servicing, maintenance, tyres, and all other running costs are covered by the Swedish vehicle manufacturer for the time Jim has the vehicle.

If he likes it, he can keep it for a million miles… providing he starts paying after the two years, that is.
