This YouTuber spent $5,000 to build a huge 10-wheel drive RC truck but encountered a big issue along the way.
Tomley RC is a big fan of RC trucks as his name suggests, and this project was a massive undertaking.
To be specific, the truck he created was a Cross RC XX10 T-Rex.
With a name like that, you’d expect something pretty imposing as an end product.

Creating a RC truck isn’t a quick job
For those not in the know, a RC truck is a radio-controlled truck, a model vehicle steered through a control pad.
Tomley’s weighed around 70kg and had 10 wheels on it.
This is the world’s biggest 10×10 RC truck, and putting it together is no small feat.
As anybody who has assembled an intricate model can tell you, it’s a task that requires a lot of focus and patience.
Add onto that a lot of mechanical know-how, and you have yourself a trying but enjoyable activity.
Tomley assembled his truck using several parts that built up the body, chassis, tires and electronics.
The electronics and control system came with the kit he ordered, but the ESCs (Electronic Speed Controller) and radio gear were not included.
Given that the ESC is basically the ‘brain’ of the vehicle, it’s a pretty significant part.
Calling this a ‘model’ might lead you to thinking it’s a tiny thing.
That couldn’t be further from the truth – there’s dogs that would probably be of a similar size to this truck.
Plus it had some model guns on the back which rotate 360 degrees.
They don’t shoot anything but they look really cool.
The truck has a Mad Max feel to it, and wouldn’t look out of place speeding through a post-apocalyptic wasteland.
Tomley enjoys the building experience, but encounters problems along the way.
As notable as being the world’s biggest RC truck is, there are still stranger RCs out there.
What issues did this YouTuber face during construction?
The road to completion was a rocky one for Tomley.
Speaking of rocky roads, test driving the truck led to some components breaking on rougher terrains.
Some of the parts weren’t up to scratch and would repeatedly fall off, with the front bumper being a particular offender.
The vehicle’s hydraulic system also caused some delays and headaches for the dedicated YouTuber.
But it was all worth it in the end.
When he took it out to the EAST RC Crawler event, he proved to be a big hit with fellow enthusiasts.
As his truck moved around the forest area, it easily dwarfed the other RCs present.
It’s an imposing creation and not shy about getting muddy – a sharp contrast to this sleek Ferrari 12Cilindri model which took 300 hours to create.
