Another week, another toyish-looking Chinese urban EV.

This time it’s the turn of the Geely Panda Mini, hoping to compete in an already hugely-saturated market.

One thing the tiny EV has going for it though is its cute looks, but is that a hint of Honda e we detect?

Its design is supposedly inspired by the Panda bear, with three-paw design wheel hubs and ear-like mirrors.

That explains why, when it debuted at a shopping center in the city of Hangzhou, the pop-up exhibition featured plenty of panda figures.

It was also bathed in pink, featured balloons, and the two Geely Panda Mini cars on display were pink and light blue.

We can’t help but think it looks remarkably like the Honda e, though.

That’s probably got something to do with its friendly rounded appearance, and the large LED headlights that dominate the front end.

It’s also dinky in size and boxy in shape (120.6″ long / 59.9″ wide / 62.9″ tall / 79.3″ wheelbase), much like the Honda e.

Geely’s designers clearly didn’t spend much time of their own designing the EV, as even the rear looks like a Nissan Cube.

Geelay panda mini, however, the first vehicle in its segment to feature a large panoramic moonroof.

Winner.

The Panda Mini supposedly seats four passengers.

How comfortable it’d be with four grown adults inside, who knows.

The dashboard, which is painted pink, features a large off-center touchscreen infotainment system, an elongated digital instrument cluster, plenty of storage compartments, and a dedicated area beneath the vents for the climate controls.

Power figures

China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology has provided the technical specifications.

The Panda Mini’s power comes from a single front-mounted electric motor producing 40 hp (30 kW / 41 PS).

Its lithium-iron-phosphate battery, provided by Guoxuan High-Tech, is claimed to offer approximately 150 km (93 miles) of range.

Geely Panda Mini price

Although the price is yet to be revealed, the Geely Panda Mini is expected to be priced between 40,000 and 50,000 Yuan ($5,700 – $7,200).

Geely will officially launch the model in China in 2023.
