Hennessey Special Vehicles has unveiled its latest world-beating hypercar, the Venom F5 Roadster.

With it, the Texas-based company is adding another two records to its tally – the fastest roadster in the world, and the most powerful as well.

Priced from a whopping $3 million, just 30 examples will be made.

Under the skin, it’s almost identical to the Venom F5 Coupe, with the same carbon fiber monocoque chassis.

However, there’s a removable carbon fiber composite roof panel on the Venom F5 Roadster, which Hennessey says weighs only 8kg (18lbs).

That will obviously help keep the center of gravity low to improve handling.

It will also make it easy to remove and put on the ‘sculptural pedestal’ that comes with the car.

Customers can also choose to keep parts of the exterior in exposed carbon fiber, or have it painted any color they like.

Similarly, any interior color combination can be specified by the 30 lucky buyers as well.

The Roadster retains the Coupe’s 6.6-liter twin-turbo V8 engine, which is on display through a transparent tempered glass cover.

That cover is certified for use in jet aircraft, and can withstand temperatures of up to 540°C (1000°F).

The V8 makes an insane 1817hp (1355kW) which is all sent to the rear wheels through a seven-speed single-clutch automated gearbox.

With the roof removed, you’ll now be able to hear the engine in all its glory.

And with a dry weight of under 1406kg (3100lbs), it’s safe to say it should live up to Hennessey’s performance promises.

Hennessey Venom F5 Roadster top speed

The company already holds the record for the world’s fastest convertible, with the 2016 Venom GT Spyder having hit 427.4km/h (265.6mph).

However, Hennessey is targeting a top speed of over 483km/h (300mph) for the Venom F5 Roadster.

The F5 Venom Roadster will be making its in-person debut at The Quail, A Motorsports Gathering during this week’s Monterey Car Week.

Last year, the F5 Coupe debuted in Monterey and all 24 examples sold out shortly after.
