Jeep is the latest brand to go electric, and it’s going in big with three new models.
Following the success of its ‘4xe’ hybrid models, the brand’s first fully-electric model, the Avenger, is due to hit Europe as soon as early next year.
However, it’s the other two models revealed alongside it – the Recon and Wagoneer S – that have people talking.
Jeep Recon

The Recon is clearly the most Jeep-like of the three new models.
It’s a boxy off-roader that embodies Jeep’s design philosophy with its removable doors and short overhangs that make it ideal for tough terrain.
The exposed door handles and side-hinged tailgate also link it to the Wrangler.
Funny, that, as it was designed by the same team in the same studio.
However, it breaks away from the Wrangler in some regards with its rectangular headlights and more typical SUV appearance.
But its off-road capabilities give the existing Wrangler a run for its money.
Electric differential locks in both axles and the Selec-Terrain drive mode system will ensure it can handle any surface.
It will have plenty of underbody protection and some proper off-road tires as well.
The company’s order books will open early next year, with the first deliveries expected in 2024.
And don’t worry – it might look like a replacement for the Wrangler, but the two will continue to be sold side-by-side.
Jeep Wagoneer S
Sharing the same platform as the Recon is the on-road-focused Jeep Wagoneer S.
According to Jeep, the ‘S’ tag that this electric model bears stands for three things – speed, striking, and sexy.

Certainly, it’s a smart-looking car, wearing clean lines and offering a distinctly modern look.
The ‘floating’ rear wing is a particular highlight as it adds to the sporty feel.
Despite being electric, it still wears Jeep’s iconic grille design, and on this, it’s illuminated.
Size-wise, the Wagoneer S will be smaller than the existing Wagoneer and Grand Wagoneer models, instead being closer to the Grand Cherokee in size.
But again, it won’t be a replacement for it and will sit alongside it in showrooms.
Oh, and with around 600hp on offer and a 0-97km/h (0-60mph) time of around 3.5 seconds on offer, the S really will stand for ‘speed’.
Jeep Avenger
The Jeep Avenger will be the brand’s first electric model on sale.
Jeep is aiming to have 50 percent of its US sales and 100 percent of European sales accounted for by EVs as soon as 2030.
That’s why the company is already gearing up to launch the first of these three new electric models in Europe in early 2023.
The Avenger will be the first on sale, although it won’t be offered in the US as it’s considered too small for American buyers’ tastes.
It’s poised for its in-person reveal at next month’s Paris Motor Show, with pre-orders to open on the same day, October 17.
