Woman who bought 'ex-Uber Tesla' with 180,000 miles found out the truth about used EV's range

A woman who bought an ex-Uber Tesla Model 3 EV with 180,000 miles on the clock has found out the truth about the used EV’s range.
YouTuber Vicky Parrott from CarGurusUK bought the Model 3 Long-Range all-wheel drive after it had been driven as an Uber taxi for nearly 200,000 miles.
The car already had 170,000 miles on the clock before she added at least another 10k to its odometer number.
Before this, she had the battery checked to see what condition it was in, which led to an interesting result.

The Tesla Model 3 had been an Uber for much of its previous ownership
The 2021 Tesla Model 3 had been used almost exclusively as an Uber during its previous ownership.
Parrott bought it with 170,000 miles registered before she brought that number up to 180,000.
There have always been questions as to how much battery capacity a used Tesla or any other EV would have.
This comes down to things such as the battery condition and whether a lot of the capacity is lost.
Parrott took the car in for a check to see what the Model 3 had left.
To her surprise, the Tesla still had around 90 percent of its battery capacity left.
What made this more impressive was that the car had gone through around 1,000 charging cycles.
In the video, Parrott herself acknowledged that fact, saying: “I think that’s pretty impressive.”
The fact that batteries can last so long with so much use is a good sign for those wondering if they should buy one.
Electric car battery degradation has been a worry for consumers
Many have feared they would suffer the same fate as cell phones, with their battery capacity draining over just a couple of years.
This, though, could see more people convert from gasoline cars to electric cars.
EV sales around the world are slowly increasing.
Used EVs are also appearing quickly, and we can often see them depreciate quite quickly.
Recent reports suggested used EV sales have increased by 63 percent from 2023 to 2024.
If used electric car batteries can last almost as long as new ones and not need replacing, the used market might become even hotter.
Plus, it means many people can switch to a Tesla or another brand and save a lot of money.
