Pagani has lifted the lid on its latest limited-edition creation – the $7.36 million Huayra Codalunga.

Just five examples of the hypercar are set to be produced, each based on the standard Huayra underneath but draped in a gorgeous new body.

The most obvious change on the Codalunga – which is Italian for longtail – is its rear end.

The company claims the long sweeping lines leading to a pair of tail fins are inspired by the Le Mans racers of the 1960s.

From the side, the Codalunga looks absolutely stunning.

The car was borne out of a request from two Pagani customers, and company founder Horacio Pagani was more than happy to oblige.

Created through the Pagani Grandi Complicazioni division that handles special builds, it took two years for the design to be finalized.

Two prototypes were created – one full-size, and one in 1:4 scale.

But despite the finished product being 360mm longer than the standard Pagani Huayra, it’s actually 68kg (150lb) lighter.

It’s also had the power turned up on its twin-turbo V12 engine to a whopping 840hp.

Inside, it features matte aluminum surfaces and two-tone woven brown leather.

This was chosen, in Pagani’s words, “to evoke the shades of the past and to bring out the simplicity of the car’s design.”

With only five examples ever set to be made, all of them are already spoken for.

That’s despite the frankly astronomical $7.3 million (€7 million) price tag.

Although for a car this good-looking, perhaps it’s reasonable.
