The Bugatti Veyron Barchetta was a concept car that was, for a long time, a secret.

It was created by the head of Bugatti’s design department, Achim Anscheidt, way back in 2008.

Unfortunately, the concept car was a bit too ahead of its time and never even made it into pre-production.

The Bugatti Veyron Barchetta concept car was supposed to be a super-limited edition model for the richest car collectors in the world.

It is a bit similar to what Lamborghini does with its one-off models and ultra-limited edition cars.

However, the company’s top executives were reluctant to adopt a similar business model to Lamborghini, hence the Barchetta was never made.

If the Bugatti Veyron Barchetta was ever released it would’ve been very limited and equally costly.

The concept car was based on the Bugatti Veyron Grand Sport Vitesse, adorned with all-new bodywork and a speedster-like wraparound windshield.

Even the base model of the Vitesse cost around $2.5 million.

So, one can imagine how much the Barcheta would have cost.

Speaking of the Bugatti Veyron Grand Sport Vitesse, it is one of the few cars, that is faster than an F1 car.

If released, the concept car would have likely been powered by the same quad-turbo 8.0-liter engine kicking out 1,200 horsepower.

Fortunately, Bugatti learned from their mistake and followed Chiron’s release with several special or sometimes unique editions.

There’s even a new replacement for the Chiron in the works with a V16 engine.

Unfortunately, the Barcheta could never even see the light of the day as not even a prototype was built for it.

However, the Bugatti Veyron Barchetta was not the only concept car to be canned by the car maker.

The Atlantic is also yet another concept car that was canceled and replaced by the Chiron.
