Supercar Blondie with the SSC Tuatara - the world's fastest car.

Nothing is as fast as a Formula 1 car around a race track, but in a straight-line race – it’s a completely different story.

For some quick context, a current 2022 Formula 1 car weighs a minimum of 795kg and can launch itself from 0-100km/h in roughly 2.6 seconds.

Charles Leclerc’s Ferrari and Max Verstappen’s Red Bull can then hit a top speed of about 370km/h.

Here are five cars that can thrash a Formula 1 car with ease:

5. McLaren F1 top speed – 386km/h, 240.1 mph

The McLaren F1 is nearly 25 years old but it can still throw you back in your seat with insane straight-line speeds.

Back in its heyday, the McLaren F1 was capable of a top speed of 240.1 mph.

This is all thanks to a monstrous 6.1-litre BMW V12 that produces 618hp.

The standard production version isn’t capable of these speeds, but one F1 had its rev limiter raised to 8,300rpm for testing.

4. Bugatti Veyron Super Sport top speed – 430km/h, 267.8 mph

No speed run list would be complete without the inclusion of a Bugatti.

And the Veyron Super Sport is no slouch.

Thanks to its 8-litre quad-turbocharged W16 engine, this iteration of the Veyron is capable of a top speed of 430km/h.

It makes a mind-melting 987hp and can propel itself from 0-100km/h in 2.8 seconds.

3. Koenigsegg Agera RS top speed – 447km/h, 277.8 mph

The Bugatti above is super quick. But the Koenigsegg Agera RS is quicker.

It ranks third in our list thanks to a top speed of 447km/h.

The Agera RS is powered by a 5.0-litre V8 engine that produces a not-so-measly 1,160hp.

When Koenigsegg used a customer’s Agera RS to break the world record top speed in 2017, Koenigsegg also took the record for the highest speed ever recorded on a public road – that’s quite something.

2. Bugatti Chiron Super Sport 300+ top speed – 490km/h, 304.7 mph

If you thought the Veyron was quick, then think again.

The Bugatti Chiron Super Sport 300+ has entered the arena.

Powered by a monstrous quad-turbocharged W16 engine producing 1,578 hp, this iteration of the Chiron is nothing short of a rocket ship.

It broke the record in 2019 thanks to a new gearbox with longer ratios, and front and rear bumpers that were optimised for high-speed runs.

1. SSC Tuatara top speed – 508.7km/h, 316.1 mph

Last but most certainly not least is the very controversial SSC Tuatara.

This hypercar had a bit of a rough start in the world of top speed runs due to some controversy throughout its first run, but it came back and smashed it.

According to SSC, the Tuatara managed to reach a rather trouser-trembling top speed of 508.7km/h, making it the world’s fastest car.

As you can see from the Supercar Blondie YouTube video above, the SSC Tuatara is an absolute beast and would leave any F1 car in the mud.
