Maserati reveals its hot drop-top MC20 Cielo and we want it right now

Maserati has lifted the lid on its new drop-top supercar, the MC20 Cielo, and it’s a stunner.

It was in 2020 when the brand first showed off the coupe version of the MC20 – the car that ushered in a new era for the Italian brand.

This new version offers drivers a clear view of the sky above.

Maserati says “it is a model devoted to driving pleasure in the great outdoors”.

In fact, ‘Cielo’ translates to ‘sky’ in Italian, so the name isn’t just to sound fancy.

Like the MC20 coupe, it has a lightweight carbon chassis.

Its beautiful looks remain largely unchanged as well, with it even still sporting an impressive set of butterfly doors.

It’s the electric-folding convertible top that has us dying to have a go in it, however.

A single glass panel that’s fully retractable, the glass can automatically become transparent or dim itself at the push of a button.

That way, you can enjoy the sky view without fully dropping the top.

However, removing the roof will give your ears better access to the rumbling sound of its twin-turbo V6!

Electric versions of the MC20 are set to arrive in the coming years, though.

There are other cool details to be seen as well, such as the wheels pattern which forms “MMXX” – Roman numerals for 2020, the year the MC20 first launched.

More of an entry-level exotic than a real and proper supercar competitor, the fixed-roof MC20 coupe starts at $215,995.

Pricing for this new MC20 Cielo convertible is unconfirmed as yet, but expect around a $30,000 premium for this drop-top version.
