A new Rolls Royce Boat Tail, one of only three that will ever exist, has sold for $28 million.
The Boat Tail is now the most expensive new car ever sold.
It’s finished in oyster and soft rose and was revealed at Lake Como in northern Italy just days ago.

The car will join a private family collection.
Each car in the Boat Tail series is worth more than $20 million.
Rolls Royce says the Boat Tails are built to tell a story uniquely personal to its owner, “reflecting their own history, tastes and sensibilities”.
This most recent car is entirely hand-built and was commissioned by a family in the pearling industry.

The family gave Rolls Royce designers a selection of pearl shells from their private collection – and these inspired the final look of the car.
The color is a blend of oyster and soft rose with large white and bronze mica flakes – giving the car a shimmering finish that changes under different light.
The back of the car – where the Boat Tail’s signature butterfly design is – is covered in Royal Walnut veneer inlaid with rose gold-plated pinstripes.
And what about the Rolls-Royce Boat Tail interior?
Inside the car, the dashboard has a centerpiece made of mother-of-pearl – also from the owner’s personal collection.
All the switches and dials are also covered in mother-of-pearl.
Rolls-Royce Motor Cars CEO Torsten Müller-Ötvös described Coachbuild as the “haute couture of our industry”.
“Far more than just a beautiful motor car, a coachbuilt creation becomes a legacy that embodies something extraordinarily personal and emotionally resonant for each client,” he said.
Rolls-Royce Boat Tail price
So, it begs the question; if you had a spare $28 million, would you rather spend $3 million on a Bugatti Chiron, $350,000 on a Rolls Royce Cullinan, $200,000 on a Lamborghini Urus and have more than $24 million leftover?
Or would you spend it all on one Rolls Royce Boat Tail?
How many Rolls-Royce Boat Tail are sold?
There are just three Rolls-Royce Boat Tail in existence.
Each has gone to very wealthy clientele.
One is even rumored to be owned by Jay-Z and Beyonce.
Speaking of crazy builds, check out this homemade Boat Tail.
The fully-wooden car was built by a Vietnamese dad in his backyard.
It runs on a 1000W electric motor, reaching a top speed of 20km/h – just slightly less than the real Boat Tail’s top speed of 341km/h.
