You’re probably used to seeing a lone airplane flying above you in the sky.
From the Airbus A220 having a secret cockpit hatch, to the planes undergoing intense water ingestion tests, the aircraft are a wonder to learn about.
Although, there’s still a lot we don’t actually know about the flying machines.
The Airbus is a wonder of an aircraft

This isn’t the first time that Airbus has pulled out all the stops, however.
In fact, in 2024, the manufacturer performed a new ‘family flight’ with commercial planes in close proximity like they were military jets – cool right?
This footage, though, may jump to the top of the list when it comes to blowing our minds.
In a video posted by Airbus itself, we’re taken behind the scenes of the five huge aircraft performing a synchronized flight.
Five test and development A350-900s took to the skies up above all together in September 2014.
The flight then brought together the planes in perfect harmony.
All working and communicating together, the planes performed four impressive maneuvers.
Imagine looking up and seeing five jet planes putting on a show like.
Even Frank Chapman, a test pilot and formation flight leader said in the video that it was ‘very unusual’ for them to do this.
Four formations performed by five planes

Together, the aircraft performed a series of formations.
They included the diamond, low pass, and echelon formations, and last but not least, an arrow.
Impressive right?

The flight itself took place in the skies over Southern France and was trackable through Flight Radar.
So that even plane fans who couldn’t be there in person to experience the wonder could view it from the comfort of their own home.
The flight brought together all the planes that were used in a campaign that led to the certification of the latest Airbus widebody jetliner.
With all the shapes they were making though, we bet the snacks would have flown all over the cabin – don’t you?
