With apologies to any Power Rangers fans who clicked in the hope of information regarding the show’s 2017 web series, the new, all-electric supercar, Hyper Force by Nissan, is cooler than any Zord.
The Hyper Force concept car, which was revealed at the Japan Mobility Show in Tokyo, is the last of the five “Hyper” branded cars that have been showcased by Nissan since 3rd October.
It is pitched squarely at gamers and thrill-seekers who want to push themselves to the limit while pulling our environment back from the brink. But it is of course the next in line to potentially be the new, iconic GT-R.
HOW COOL IS THIS?!

So it is also no surprise that the Hyper Force was developed alongside NISMO, Nissan’s motorsports and performance optimisation division.
Its two-tiered, aerodynamic exterior provides both strong downforce and high cooling, aided by the light-forged carbon wheels. It of course looks a lot like the instantly-recognisable GT-R.
But the heart of the car from Nissan, who are also lining up the Hyper Tourer, is its all-solid-state battery, capable of outputting up to 1,000 kW.
Like other Nissan creations it also boasts precise and rapid acceleration.
Combine this with optimally-balanced weight distribution and an all-electric powertrain and it makes handling on winding roads and circuits child’s play.
The car has two modes and the GT-R clues: “R”, for racing, and “GT”, for grand touring.
In “R” mode, the cabin is lit up in red and an intuitive cockpit provides the driver with data.
This includes information on tire grip, air pressure, power distribution and other information vital for racers.
In “GT” mode, the cabin is a relaxing blue, with the information given to the driver focused more on comfort.
It includes immersive infotainment, audio and air conditioning options.
Of course, safety comes first, which is why the Hyper Force is equipped with a number of sensors and LIDAR, to keep the driver, passenger, and other cars and pedestrians safe.
It may come as no surprise that, as a car made to appeal to gamers, the Hyper Force was developed by Hyper Punk creators, Nissan.
The project was a collaboration with Sony Interactive Entertainment and the creators of the best-selling Gran Turismo games.
This influence can possibly be best felt in the inclusion of AR and VR features.
These give the driver a gamified driving experience and make your car the ultimate arcade racing cabinet.
When the car is stopped, the driver can wear a VR headset to race against the clock or against friends online.
Skeleton visors used for AR let drivers on a course try to beat personal records, or records set by friends – or even professional racers.
Nissan’s Hyper Force may not be a Power Rangers robot from space, but it certainly offers a hyper drive and those GT-R dreams.
