Kentucky man goes viral for sharing little-known simple trick to start car after key fob dies

A man has gone viral on TikTok after sharing a life-changing hack to get your car moving if your key fob is dead. 

The clever hack involves sliding out the metal key from the fob and using it to enter your vehicle by a tiny hidden slot behind the door. 

The handle will then be able to swiftly come away from the door revealing an entrance to the vehicle. 

Where inside, you’ll be able to activate the start of your vehicle.

The hack is in the key fob itself

Per Ceith Griffith on TikTok, you should look for a little ‘sliding’ button on the side of the fob and remove the cover.

Firstly though, maybe you should consider why the fob is dead in the first place.

There could be hidden damage if the fob has taken a tumble, or if the key fancied its chances at keeping afloat in a puddle of water. 

Griffith racked up a whopping 1.9 million views letting the internet into a little secret that will save many drivers when they find themselves caught short. 

The creator explained that every vehicle, regardless of the make has one, and the key will always be hidden in the battery-operated fob. 

Then the car’s clever hidden features come into play.

It’s all behind the door

Situated just beneath the door handle lies a hidden compartment that perfectly fits the key. 

The hidden pocket will enable the entire door handle to come away from the vehicle completely. 

Once removed, a magical, yet simple old-fashioned lock will appear- allowing you to drive away once more, without a care in the world.

Once you eventually let yourself back into your car- you will be able to locate a small slot.

The slot can be found in the console in the center of the front of your vehicle- where the fob will nicely fit. 

This clever little trick will enable the car to be activated once more. 

Online, viewers were amazed at the handy hack. 

One viewer wrote: “I was today years old when I learned this.”

Another, named Tiffanie wrote: “Wow thanks I have a push start and I always wondered what would happen if it dies and I’m stuck at work!”

It might not work for emerging key tech, however – but you can get a key implanted in your body to swerve this problem for good.
