An American YouTuber from Indiana was able to buy a Toro Rosso Formula 1 car after saving up his money for ‘a few hours.’
WhistlinDiesel suddenly had the urge to buy a Grand Prix car and traveled to GPCars4Sale to check out what he’d bought.
His video on YouTube shows him driving to reveal the car and see it for the first time, and barely able to contain his excitement.
The car isn’t a current F1 car. But it is one that raced in several Grand Prix and belonged to the junior Red Bull team, Scuderia Toro Rosso, now called Racing Bulls.

The YouTuber was in awe of the F1 car he had bought
The car in question is a 2009 Toro Rosso STR4, which at the time had a Ferrari V8 engine powering it.
The YouTuber had traveled to the Netherlands to get his hands on the ex-F1 car, having joked that he’d saved for ‘a few hours’ to get it.
WhistlinDiesel was in awe of the carbon fiber construction of the car.
This was even down to the various components that make up the suspension.
The seller from GPCars4Sale stated that the livery was hand-painted.
The 2009 Toro Rosso had arguably one of the best liveries of the season.
The only major missing component was the V8 engine.
Those are usually kept by the team or engine manufacturer at the end of a season.
The Toro Rosso Formula 1 car weighs just over 1,000 lbs
The steering wheel is another component usually kept by the F1 team due to its value and technology.
Something else the American noted was how the mirrors are built into the car’s aerodynamic structure.
F1 cars are incredibly light, and this one in particular weighs just 1,322 lbs.
That is far lighter than nearly every modern road car, with most weighing at least over 3,000lbs in total.

Despite not having the engine, WhistlinDiesel said he wants to get the car fully functional once again.
The front wing still has the driver’s name inscribed into it, revealing it was originally driven by Sebastien Buemi.
The YouTuber has a few plans for the car, so it’ll be interesting to see what he does with it in the future.
