Something very strange happened to British tennis star Emma Raducanu.
Raducanu, a Porsche brand ambassador since 2022, now no longer owns a Porsche.
Her Porsche 911 was taken away.
But it’s okay, because apparently she has a back-up car she loves even more.

A strange thing happened
In 2022, Emma Raducanu was named a global brand ambassador for Porsche following her US Open victory the year before.
Raducanu also received a Porsche 911 Carrera GTS Cabriolet as a gift to celebrate the deal.
Fast-forward to 2024, and according to reports by several news outlets, including The Sun, Porsche wanted the car back.
The car was given to Raducanu as part of the agreement, so the company is obviously entitled to take it back.
But it’s still a strange thing to happen.
Especially because Porsche made it clear they don’t intend to end said partnership.
Emma Raducanu loves her back-up car
Emma Raducanu apparently owns a cheap and cheerful Dacia Sandero as a back-up car and she loves it.
As you can expect, Dacia also saw an opportunity here and took to X to address the situation.
“Dear Emma, whether it’s your forehand, backhand or Sandero keys in-hand – you know a thing or two about relaibility,” Dacia wrote.
“Some brands may let you down, you can always trust your Sandero.”
The complicated relationship between brands and ambassadors
Brand ambassadors get money, and free products on top of that.
That’s the short version of the long story, but the long story is actually more complicated.
David Beckham, for example, is a brand ambassador for Maserati, and he was able to design his own MC20.
Maserati even launched a limited-edition collection designed by Beckham.
Would Maserati ask for the car back?
We don’t know, because we haven’t read the contracts.
But Raducanu’s situation was, at the very least, unusual.
