What budget do you need to buy a supercar? Turns out the figure is more flexible than you think as one British YouTuber set out to buy a supercar with a not unhealthy figure of $180,000 (£150,000).
The luxury car must fulfill three criteria: to be undeniably a supercar, tunable, and unique.
He was able to narrow his options down to a McLaren 600 LT, Ferrari 488, and a Lamborghini Huracán.

Can you buy a supercar on a budget?
The first test drive for Jamie Sonuga of OFFICIALLY GASSED – OG made the Ferrari 488 seem like the easiest choice, as it provided the ‘traditional’ and luxurious supercar experience he’d set his sights on.
“It just feels like business like you get in this car to go fast,” Sonuga said of the Ferrari.
Onto a test drive of the McLaren 600 LT and it felt more like a race car.
It was a more stripped-back and ‘raw’ driving experience, with excellent handling and a focus on performance, making it a tempting contender.
Thrilling and urgent, it was more responsive and planted when compared to the Ferrari.
“It feels like what I imagined a supercar to feel like,” of its loud exhaust.
“This is definitely edge-of-your-seat stuff.”
The third test drive of a Lamborghini Huracán impressed with the model’s impressive and distinct styling and V10 sound.
“If someone said ‘draw a supercar’, they would probably draw this,” he said.
However, he was concerned about practicality, modifications, and the car’s high cost.
Decision time
Each car has pros and cons: from the Lamborghini’s sound and presence to the Ferrari offers comfort, and the McLaren’s performance and handling.
After extensive consideration, he went for… drumroll… a McLaren 600 LT.
It ultimately came down to its lightweight full carbon fiber package, including P1 seats, an exceptional V8 engine, coupled with incredible driving dynamics.
Together they made it the most track- and performance-oriented option.
“I’m absolutely blown away… we’ve got the perfect car,’ he said excitedly.
