China’s BYD says its new hybrid cars can travel 1,300 miles on a single tank of gas

It seems a new era of automotive travel is just around the corner as new hybrid cars from BYD can travel 1,300 miles before refueling.

China’s BYD has just released its 5th-generation ‘DM’ Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicles.

And the best thing about them is their fuel economy and impressive range.

The BYD lineup consists of two new hybrid cars, the Qin L DM-i, and the Seal 06 DM-i.

Both cars feature an impressive 81.1 miles per gallon (2.9L/100km) mileage.

Plus they can also an additional 49 miles (79 km) with their smaller battery and 74 miles (119 km) on their larger battery in ‘all-electric’ mode.

Now that’s quite a big range when combining them both.

Who would want a fast electric car when you can have the most efficient vehicle that brings the best of both worlds?

However, these impressive figures are due to China’s new CLTL testing procedure.

Compared to the EPA, which represents more ‘real-world’ driving conditions CLTL is more generous with its figures.

But even if the range of these BYD hybrid cars is close to the testing figures, they can certainly be one of the best EV cars in the world.

However, the most impressive thing is the price of these hybrid cars: ¥99,800 (Roughly $13,741).

With these prices, it’s no wonder that BYD overtook Tesla as the world’s leader in EV car sales.

Both BYD hybrid cars, the Qin L DM-i, and the Seal 06 DM-i are based on a 1.5L inline-4 turbo platform with two battery options.

They will either come with a 10-kWh or a 15.8-kWh battery pack.

However, the engine will only provide a mere 99 hp (74 kW) and 93 lb-ft (126 nm) of torque.

The electric motor on the other hand will give 161 hp (125-kW).

They are definitely not going to be the fastest EV cars but they will be quite convenient.

According to the company, the reason for its ultra-high efficiency gains is its ‘AI-enabled energy consumption management system.’

The system decides when to switch between electric and gas.
