The Dodge Viper that was brought back down to Earth after sitting atop a dealership sign in the US state of Kentucky for 28 years has finally got the TLC that it deserved.
The first-generation Dodge Viper was initially a marketing stunt but also became a landmark
After almost 30 years the car has finally been taken down and is being given the renovation it so desperately needed.
It’s fair to say that it really needed it.

The supercar dealership sign
While some thought it was a model, the sign actually featured a real first-generation Dodge Viper.
It sat mounted above the Audubon Chrysler dealership sign in Henderson, Kentucky since 1996.
The man who put it there also put a Chevy Corvette 60 feet in the air at a location in Indiana.
Back to Kentucky and – on top of being used as an advertising tool – it’s become a local landmark for 28 years as drivers enter from Highway 41.
As it became part of the scenery, the scenery and nature have embraced it too.
So when it was brought down, it was decided to give it a little glow-up.
The Dodge Viper
The condition it was left in when it was brought down for cleaning left the dealership owners shocked.
Sadly, its once stunning red paint was peeling, and its cabin was so full of mold that the driver’s side window looked like a terrarium.
Perhaps the biggest surprise was the bird’s nest that shocked everyone when the engine bay was opened.
Enter Keen’s Auto Body and Pain to give the famous ‘Viper In The Sky’ a repaint.
“This landmark vehicle, which has caught eyes from all around, is getting a fresh, professional repaint by our expert team,” they shared proudly.
“It’s not every day you get to bring new life to a car with such history and visibility! Stay tuned for updates and the reveal – we can’t wait to show you the results!”
Alongside the video of their work, they stated that they were ‘transforming a classic into a bold masterpiece’.
After its ‘stunning red makeover,’ it’s hoped the Dodge Viper will look fiercer than ever’ back from its vantage point above the town.
