We might never see another Toyota FJ Cruiser, so an Australian motorhead took matters into their own hands and created a unique pickup truck.
While the Land Cruiser FJ45 included a pickup truck variant until 1986, it was never sold in Australia.
That’s exactly why the owner of a local workshop completely transformed their FJ Cruiser into a pickup to use as a daily driver.
But how did they do it?

The Australian enthusiast went to great lengths to get a pickup bed on their reliable SUV.
Why, you ask?
Because the entire project took around two years to complete.
Toyota discontinued the FJ Cruiser with a Final Edition series a while ago, but this transformation holds its legacy.
At first, they had to find a bed that would fit perfectly in the FJ Cruiser.
And they did — they chose one made for a Nissan Patrol GU for this project.
Furthermore, the motorhead chopped the body behind the front doors and sealed the gaping hole by welding a wall.
Next up, they extended the chassis by 11.8 inches to strengthen the wheelbase.
You need a stronger chassis to support a large bed, of course.
The Toyota FJ Cruiser SUV might not compare to the latest 4Runner or Land Cruiser SUV, but it has its own fanbase.
And finally, it was time to complete the transformation.
On the rear side, an aluminum utility tray is now accompanied by a tailgate, matching fenders, and aftermarket LED lights.
It almost looks factory-made.
After looking at this, who wouldn’t want to convert their SUV into a beast pickup truck?
The truck also got a new set of wheels wrapped in all-terrain tires to put the cherry on the cake.
After waiting two years, the shop owner will have Australia’s only two-seater FJ Cruiser pickup as his daily driver.
It’s the perfect two-seater FJ Cruiser pickup truck that Toyota never made.
So, who is really behind this transformation?
The project comes from Australia’s Tinman Fabrications, a local customization shop in Victoria.
And to be clear, they’re not new to this game — the workshop is known for excellent utility conversions from major SUVs.
