Former executives from Tesla and Lucid have joined forces to launch a new marque called Longbow that aims to introduce a new type of EV.
Longbow has launched two new vehicles into the ‘Featherweight Electric Vehicle’ (FEV) category.
Both the Speedster and Roadster models weigh under 1,000kg (less than 2,205 pounds).
And they look pretty smart, too.

The world of EVs is growing at a fast pace, with more and more car manufacturers increasing their all-electric offerings.
And of course, it’s hard to talk about EVs and not mention Tesla, isn’t it?
The US-automaker is set to release the Tesla Model Y Juniper soon, with other models slated to follow.
Now, British-based Longbow is hoping to shake up the industry with the launch of two new ‘featherweight’ EVs.
Longbow is the ‘first-ever British electric sportscar manufacturer’ and has bold ambitions to ‘re-energize’ the market.
Although the marque is new to the scene, the team who created it has plenty of experience when it comes to cars – specifically electric vehicles.
The marque was founded by Daniel Davey and Mark Tapscott, who previously worked at Tesla, Lucid Motors, and BYD, as well as Jenny Keisu, who was formerly the CEO of an electric marine company.
“Number one, as a company, we and our other co-founder Jenny have done this before,” Davey told Top Gear.
“[We’ve been at] Tesla, Lucid, Polestar, Chinese manufacturers. There are not many people on the planet that have done it once. We’ve [launched EV makers] four or five times across multiple companies and continents, so we know how to build the company side of it.”
So what are the new FEVs actually like?
Longbow has launched with two models: the Roadster and the Speedster, and they both look pretty awesome.
The Speedster sports a bold design without either a roof or windshield.
Its creators say the EV will weigh just 895kg (1,973lbs) and will offer a very respectable 442km (275 miles) of range.
The Speedster is rear-wheel drive and can do 0-100km/h (0-62mph) in 3.5 seconds.
Longbow will only create 150 examples of the Speedster, with a price tag of around $110,239 (£84,995) apiece.
The Roadster has a similar slick-looking design, but this time includes a fixed roof and windshield.
It’s a little heavier than the Speedster – weighing in at 985kg (2,171lbs) and can do 0-100km/h (0-62mph) in 3.6 seconds.
It has a slight boost in range offering up to 450km (280 miles) on a single charge; and it also comes with a lower price tag of around $84,284 (£64,995).
Both the Speedster and the Roadster are set to be released in 2026.
