Minivans often come with interesting features that are best suited to — well, minivans — and the Honda Odyssey is no different with a unique feature that’s perfect for families who often travel together.

It’s a neat little mirror that sits inside the minivan’s sunglass holder and lets the driver and the front passenger take a look at the rear seats to make sure everything’s in check.

What’s more, the automaker even offers an ‘upgraded’ version of this thing in higher-end trims of the Odyssey and other minivans.

The Honda Odyssey comes with a neat feature

The mirror is technically a feature, so it obviously has a name, too.

The carmaker likes to call it the ‘Conversation Mirror’ — so you can take a peek behind while conversing with the passengers behind.

It’s for you to decide if that name fits, but the mirror is certainly a great thing to have when you have a full house on a road trip.

These mirrors first began appearing as early as decades ago in several large vehicles.

You wouldn’t know of this if you had an Accord in the 2000s, because these models didn’t need it.

Back then, the automaker used to have a dedicated mirror in front of the regular rear-view mirror instead of tucking it inside the sunglass holders.

However, these mirrors are now offered with a lot more SUVs, crossovers, and minivans today.

It gets better

The newer Honda cars also have a hidden setting called CabinTalk and CabinWatch.

Since features change with every trim, whether you have both of these depends on the model you have.

CabinTalk lets the driver talk to the entire car using a microphone.

It plays the audio via speakers or connected headphones in the rear.

Yes, it’s pretty much similar to a PA system, but on a relatively smaller scale.

Moreover, CabinWatch ditches the conversation mirror in favor of a camera feed that watches the rear of the vehicle.

As unusual as it may be, these features in the Honda Odyssey and newer larger vehicles are ideal for families traveling together with kids sitting in the back.

That is unless you’re like this family who travels in a Vision Jet instead of a minivan.

Features like these make Honda cars a worthy consideration for families, and we’re here for it.
