The wiper is not usually a showstopping element of a car, unless the car in question is the Tesla Cybertruck.

The company has so far only released vague specs, and the release date has been delayed multiple times.

This means the public has had to play detective, compiling information gathered by spotting Cybertrucks in the wild and zooming in on the images.

The car’s single wiper was first spotted on the 2021 prototype.

It was mocked by the public for being too small, prompting Tesla to go back to the drawing board.

At the time, Musk expressed concern about the design.

“The wiper is what troubles me most,” he said.

“Deployable wiper that stows in front trunk would be ideal, but complex.”

The Cybertruck’s next wiper design was then criticised for being too big, and for its clumsy placement alongside the windshield.

In more recent sightings, it seems Tesla has stuck with the huge single wiper, with some improvements.

Footage of the wiper has been decidedly low-res until now.

In new images posted by Sam Sheffer, we get to see the massive wiper up close in all its glory.

Sceptics have wondered whether a single wiper will manage full windshield coverage.

But this windshield is not your average windshield.

Its design is extra long and sharply angled.

And it’s unlikely an innovative company like Tesla would have designed the wiper with optimisation in mind.

These shots also reveal details of the tonneau controls.

As expected, they’re refined and sleek, allowing drivers a convenient way to control the bed covering.

Tesla patented a solarized tonneau cover back in 2021.

When parked in the sun, this cover would both protect the driver’s belongings and charge the car.

This would be a game-changer for the electric vehicle.

However, given Musk’s ever-changing mind, it’s hard to tell if the final Cybertruck will carry this feature.
