People say you can charge your Tesla Cybertruck with solar panels, but is that actually doable?
Somebody gave it a go, and they shared the result online.
The answer is yes, it’s possible.
But there’s a catch – or several.

How to set up solar panels on a Cybertruck
A user called Cybertechnical shared a relatively comprehensive explanation of how he did it on the Cybertruck Owners Club website.
He said he first needed to get cables, connectors, a power station, and solar panels, and this was already quite difficult to begin with.
After that, he needed to deploy the solar panels, connect them to the power station, and link the power station to the charging port.
It’s a lot of work and, and apparently, the yield wasn’t actually that great.
The charging speed using solar panels is significantly slower than using a home or Supercharger.
Buying everything you need costs money, and setting up solar panels costs time.
So, all in all, it does sound like this solution might make it cheaper but not necessarily that convenient.
The future of charging
Tesla’s Superchargers have been a huge selling point for the company.
Tesla has often ‘weaponized’ Superchargers as a marketing instrument as well.
The fact that it allows other brands to use it is a bit of a flex, in a way, and the company occasionally runs one-day promotions when you can charge cars for free.
So even though charging at a Supercharger is often not as cheap, and not as quick, as people think, they’re still a powerful tool for Tesla.
But then, a while back, Tesla unexpectedly fired nearly all of the Supercharger’s team, and everyone wondered why.
Fast-forward to October 2024, when Cybercab was unveiled, and we may have an answer.
