You can now buy a watch literally made from the brake pads of a race car

Watch brand Lorige teamed up with Peugeot Sport to create its latest model the ‘BL-Endurance’.

The concept is wild, but not totally surprising considering Lorige is founded by three French racing drivers.

Production is limited to 24 pieces, each with a hefty €29,200 (about US$32,500) price tag excluding taxes.

The particular piece is made from the brake pads of the Peugeot 9X8 prototype: a 670-hp hybrid supercar (2.6-litre V6 + a 200 kW electric motor) that Peugeot will be using at Le Mans in 2022.

In order to make it even more durable, Lorige added titanium and applied layers of DLC-coating to protect the case, the bezel and even the screws.

The ‘engine’ inside the 51.6 mm case is a Swiss Jura-made LOR-PR01, a manual-winding, 37-jewel, 294-component movement with a 45-hour power reserve.
