This Tesla owner from Kentucky has revealed seven hidden costs he wished he’d have known about beforehand.

Owning an EV – although it cuts gas bills to zero – can still be quite expensive.

From maintenance to charging and even premium features, there are some hidden factors that prospective Tesla owners should keep in the back of their minds.

The last sneaky expense may just shock you – so get ready to take notes.

Now, it’s no secret that Tesla is the front-runner when it comes to the EV game.

From starting out with the Roadster, the car giant has achieved some pretty impressive milestones.

Who could forget when it was launched up, up and away into space?

Plus, its release of the all-important Cybertruck got car fans chatting all across the globe.

As great as they are, its fleet of cars seem to have some hidden costs, which one driver found out the hard way.

He’s had a Tesla for three years

This Tesla owner has taken to YouTube to guide others on the hidden costs.

Now, it should be noted here that he clearly loves his car – but a heads-up on some of these would have perhaps been helpful.

First up was maintenance and tyres

Elements such as cabin air filter replacements could set you back quite a few bucks, which isn’t ideal.

He also explained that tires can be quite the costly feature.

Thanks to its weight and what Jeremiah calls ‘electric foot’ – addictive acceleration – tires can wear more quickly.

So, if you want to stash some cash – save the stomping for those long walks.

Accessories and added Tesla features are a factor

Despite a new Tesla costing a hefty sum, some don’t even come with floor mats, so you’ll need some to stay clean and tidy.

But, the most costly aspect could be features such as premium connectivity, Tesla’s Full Self Driving, and heated seats.

According to Tesla itself the cost depends on the ‘vehicle’s current Autopilot package of Basic Autopilot or Enhanced Autopilot’- but we do know that it certainly won’t be cheap.

Being lazy and taking a backseat will cost you a fair bit, it seems.

Charging, insurance and registration costs can also creep up

The most surprising point to Jeremiah were the costs incurred when road tax from gas stops leaving your account – some states slap you with an extra fee to own an EV.

Thanks to Jeremiah dishing out the valuable points, you could save yourself at least a few hundred bucks in the long run.

Take a look at what else he had to say below:
